Berwick is as exciting as it is challenging and as playful as it is hard-working, a place where discovery is applauded and students are more than classmates – they’re friends. Walk across the campus, and you’ll instantly feel it – this is more than a school; it is the convergence of three divisions, each with its own personality, but together forming a community that is uniquely Berwick.
Since its inception in 1791, Berwick has educated students through a purposeful blend of academics, arts, and athletics. The curriculum is traditional in its roots yet innovative in approach, fostering self-discipline, hard work, and healthy skill sets. Students here are encouraged to take risks, find their voice, and tap into the energy of campus life and community activities.
Berwick Academy is a private school situated on an 80-acre campus just over one hour north of Boston, serves 565 students, Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 and Post-Graduate, from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Why Berwick Academy?
Our Faculty
At Berwick Academy, our teachers are educators who instill a passion for learning, inspire personal excellence in their students, and create an environment that is challenging yet nurturing. Our teachers set us apart because they are able to give their students personalized attention, allowing them to get to know their students incredibly well.
Our Authentic Pre-K – Grade 12 Community
Our private school which includes preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and high school students is an authentic place that connects families from 85 communities in three states and several countries. Cross-divisional connections and relationships are formed between students, faculty, and parents from all grade levels and the school-wide energy can be felt as you step foot onto our campus.
Our Programs
Our program balances tradition with innovation and prepares students to meet the rigors of college and enter the world with a stronger sense of purpose and integrity. At all grade levels, we are committed to a student-centered approach, giving our students ownership of their learning with the guidance of their teachers. This ownership fosters a love of learning, deeper engagement, and the ability to discover and explore passions.
Our Mission & Core Values
The work we do at Berwick Academy is driven by our mission of promoting virtue and useful knowledge, and is guided by the core values we share: Excellence, Integrity, Stretching through Engagement, and Balance. At Berwick, our Mission and Core Values are not merely words, but rather the rudder which steers the decisions we make and the cultural DNA that defines who we are as a community.
Residential Program
Berwick Academy also offers a small family-style 5-day and 7-day residential program for boys in Grades 9-12 who wish to experience life on the Hilltop. The boarding experience at Berwick allows students to truly immerse themselves in the community by forming deep relationships with peers and faculty that will endure long after their time at Berwick.
